Dear Possum Pistol
Student,
Thank
you for your interest in training at Possum Pistol Academy. My name is
Roy Hill and I will be your instructor. It is my goal to make your training
experience as informative, professional, and enjoyable as possible.
The
CCW class will begin promptly at 8:30 AM on the specified day and will
last approximately six hours, not including a lunch break. The driving
time from downtown Fort Smith to Possum Pistol Academy is approximately
35 minutes because of the twisty two-lane highways and the section of
dirt road you will have to traverse, so please plan accordingly.
Once I receive your application packet,
I will mail or fax you a map with directions to Possum Pistol Academy.
The map shows approaches to the training area via I-540, and Highway 282.
If at any time you become lost on the way to Possum Pistol Academy, please
call 471-5399 and we will try to guide you in the best we can.
We will break for lunch, but be advised
that the nearest restaurants of any kind are in Mountainburg or Van Buren,
both at least 20 minutes drive time, one-way. So please pack a lunch and
be sure to bring plenty of drinking water, sodas, coffee in a thermos,
or your beverages of choice. No alcohol consumption is allowed at any
time at Possum Pistol Academy. Alcohol consumption or possession is grounds
for dismissal from the class with no refund, no exceptions.
You will need to bring a notebook, pens
or pencils, personal hearing and eye protection, your personal handgun,
and at least 50 rounds of factory ammo for your handgun. No reloads or
handloads are allowed and no live ammunition of any kind is allowed in
the classroom. You will also need to bring a positive attitude and a willingness
to fully participate and have fun.
Under Arkansas state law, if you intend
to carry a semi-automatic handgun, you must qualify in a safety course
with a semi-automatic handgun. There will be a 9mm semi-automatic handgun
available for rent for a fee of $10 for those who do not currently own
a semi-automatic, but who wish to qualify with a semi-automatic. Those
planning to rent the semi-automatic need to bring at least 50 rounds of
9mm factory ammo as well.
Please
complete the following checklist to ensure your seat in the the class
is reserved for you. Please do these steps as soon as possible, as space
in the class is limited because of safety concerns. Seats are reserved
on a first-come-first-served basis. So, if the class fills up before you
complete the checklist, you will have to attend another course at a later
date.
Possum Pistol Academy pre-class checklist.
1. Sign and date legal waiver form available on the website.
2. Sign and date safety sheet available on the website.
3. Mail both the signed legal waiver form and the signed safety sheet
along with a check or money order of $25 made out to Roy Hill, to the
followng address:

Receipt of the signed waiver, safety sheet, and $25 reserves your seat
in the class. The $25 counts toward the total cost of the course, and
the balance of the cost will be required on the day of the class. So make
sure to complete these steps soon.
On the
day of the class, you will need to bring with you:
1. Notebook,
or other paper to write notes on.
2. Pens or pencils to write notes with.
3. Hearing and eye protection. (Sunglasses or regular glasses count as
eye protection).
4. At least 50 rounds of factory ammo. No handloads, and no ammo is allowed
inside the classroom at any time.
5. Your personal handgun.
6. A lunch and plenty of non-alcoholic beverages.
7. The balance of your class costs, plus $10 if you wish to rent the 9
mm pistol, plus some extra cash if you would like to purchase any official
Possum Pistol Academy merchandise. (currently, we have silk-screened hats,
with t-shirts and embroidered denim shirts planned for the near future)
8. Positive attitude and willingness to participate and have fun.
One final
note: Three dogs live at Possum Pistol Academy. They have never bitten
a person that we know of, but they may bark as you arrive in the driveway.
They have been known to jump up on people in an attempt to lick them to
death.
I look
forward to seeing you soon at Possum Pistol Academy. Were serious
about safety, and serious about fun!
